These special NY Music Month Extended Play episodes were recorded at the legendary SMASH STUDIOS in Midtown Manhattan. A bonus episode features a deeper dive with NYC-based, multicultural pop/rock band, Andy Suzuki & The Method. The band developed an incredible sound that blends Rock, Folk, and Pop sensibilities with African and Urban rhythms, reflecting the diversity of the city they call home.

Episode two features Night Coast, a Queens-based, independent, Alternative/Rock band with members hailing from Latin America, the Caribbean, and the US. The band embodies a sound that is reflective of their multi-cultural upbringing in a global city.

Episode three features Lonr., a 23-year-old Grammy Award-winning songwriter, rapper, singer who resides in Brooklyn NY. He wrote and collaborated with international, R&B star H.E.R, and made appearances on BET, MTV, Revolt, etc. For his special Club 300 Unplugged performance he was backed by Rock/Alternative band Night Coast.

Haitian Flag Day feat. Gabel and Nancy St Leger Dance Company

In celebration of Haitian Flag Day, SummerStage is partnering with the Rhythm Foundation and New York Music Month Extended Play to livestream a concert featuring popular Haitian kompa group Gabel and Nancy St Leger Dance Company, directly from the newly renovated North Beach Bandshell in South Florida. The event will include a limited in-person audience and follow all the proper safety guidelines and protocols.

Reimagining Opera as Film During the Pandemic

When the pandemic hit, music creators and producers had to figure out new, visually compelling ways to present opera and other stage works in the digital space. Join us for a conversation about turning operas into full-fledged film productions with film sets, soundtrack recording sessions, and directors. Genre-bending composers David T. Little (Soldier Songs) and Angelica Negron (The Island We Made), and visionary opera producers Sarah Williams (Opera Philadelphia) and Beth Morrison (Beth Morrison Projects) will discuss re-envisioning the production process, as well as the creative possibilities that open up when you turn traditional performance into film.
