As President of Verve, Verve Forecast, and Impulse! Records, Jamie Krents took what might sound like an unlikely path to his current role. A professional bassist, Krents started at Verve as a temp between tours in 1998, and eventually worked his way up to running these venerable labels after more than twenty years at the company. His goal is simple: to help provide an environment that feels fair and additive to all artists who entrust these labels with their work. During his years at the Verve Label Group, he has been honored to be involved with artists from Jon Batiste, Diana Krall and Samara Joy to Kurt Vile, Blake Mills, Brandee Younger, Arooj Aftab and many more. Krents also works closely across the Verve and Impulse catalogs and the legacies of artists from John Coltrane and Louis Armstrong to Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Outside of all things Verve, he still puts in his hours on the bass, hangs with his family and rescue dog, watches a lot of basketball, and calls Brooklyn home.
