Bonsu Thompson is a writer, producer, cultural critic and fellow of both Winter and Summer 2019 Sundance Screenwriters Labs. The Brooklynite has written an award-winning feature film (2023 SXSW Cinematography Winner: STORY AVE) and short film (2018 Manhattan Film Festival Short Film Winner: STORY AVE), produced on feature-length documentaries (Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story), wrote and directed the 2023 episodic series Iconic Records: Life After Death, which documents the last eighteen months of the Notorious B.I.G.’s life; created and executive produced a digital documentary series (BET.com’s PRELUDE) and commanded media titles such as Editor-In-Chief of The Source, Creative Consultant (writer) for MTV2, Senior Writer at SLAM Magazine and Music Editor for XXL Magazine.
The cultural engineer’s vision and production experience in marketing and branding spaces have satisfied powerhouse brands such as NIKE, Hennessy, Apple, Translation, Warner Music Group and Beats By Dre, to list just a few.
Mr. Thompson has interviewed, written and produced content on some of the grandest names in entertainment––Music (Jay-Z, Clive Davis), Hollywood (Chadwick Boseman, Dan Akroyd), Sports (Allen Iverson, Steph Curry), Culture (Shepard Fairey, Oshea Jackson)––while outsourcing his pen to esteemed publications like NPR, Billboard, and Medium.
