Maiya The Don is a Brooklyn-born Afro-Latina rapper, songwriter, and cultural force redefining confidence in hip-hop. A 2024 XXL Freshman with a background in clinical and abnormal psychology, she seamlessly blends intellect, beauty, and bold self-expression into a world that extends beyond music. She first broke through with her viral hit “Telfy,” showcasing her sharp lyricism, commanding presence, and signature mix of luxury and authenticity. Since then, Maiya has earned praise and support from artists including Cardi B, Latto, Kehlani, Lil’ Kim, and Missy Elliott.Her acclaimed debut project Hot Commodity received recognition from Pitchfork, Billboard, ESSENCE, and Complex, solidifying her place among hip-hop’s most exciting emerging voices. Before music, Maiya built a loyal following as a makeup artist and licensed esthetician, helping shape the beauty-forward identity she carries today.
