Nile Rodgers

Legendary Co-Founder of CHIC

Nile Rodgers is one of music's most iconic and enduring forces — a multiple Grammy Award winner, songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, guitarist, and unparalleled musical innovator whose influence has stretched across generations and cultures. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Nile's work stands as a masterclass in creative vision and enduring impact.

As co-founder of CHIC alongside legendary bassist Bernard Edwards, Nile helped build a musical vocabulary that didn't just top charts — it reshaped genres. Together they created "Le Freak," the biggest-selling single in Atlantic Records history, and "Good Times," which laid the very DNA for hip-hop itself, directly inspiring the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" — the biggest-selling 12-inch single in recorded music history. Through The CHIC Organization, Nile and Bernard cemented their legacy with timeless anthems: "We Are Family" for Sister Sledge and "I'm Coming Out" for Diana Ross — songs that have never left the cultural conversation.

Nile's productions and collaborations — including David Bowie's Let's Dance, Madonna's Like A Virgin, Duran Duran's Notorious, and Daft Punk's Random Access Memories — have sold over 750 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide. He made history as the first creator to receive a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and a competitive Grammy in the same year, earning Best R&B Song for his contribution to Beyoncé's "Cuff It." His creative reach extends into film and interactive media, from scoring Coming to America to producing the landmark Halo 2 Original Soundtrack. He served as inaugural Chief Creative Advisor for Abbey Road Studios and currently chairs the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Beyond music, Nile co-founded the We Are Family Foundation after 9/11, transforming the beloved anthem into a global movement dedicated to empowering young changemakers through mentorship and intergenerational collaboration. It is work that has earned global recognition — including receiving the prestigious World Economic Forum's Crystal Award.  Nile Rodgers & CHIC remain one of the most electrifying live acts on the planet, delivering performances so joyful and euphoric that audiences everywhere are reminded of music's extraordinary power to unite. As The Guardian said of their Glastonbury 2025 headline set: "you can't argue with the effects of the greatest pop music ever made on the crowd."
