The Antlers
The Antlers are an American indie rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2006, originally a solo project by frontman Peter Silberman before expanding into a trio with Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci. The band gained widespread critical acclaim with their 2009 concept album Hospice, a devastatingly emotional meditation on loss, illness, and codependency that became one of the defining indie records of its era. Known for their lush, layered soundscapes that blend post-rock, dream pop, and folk influences, The Antlers continued to evolve their sound through subsequent releases including Burst Apart (2011) and Familiars (2014), moving toward more abstract, jazz-tinged atmospheres. Silberman also pursued solo work before the band released Green to Gold in 2021, a quieter, pastoral return that received warm critical reception. Throughout their career, The Antlers have been celebrated for their deeply introspective lyricism and the emotive, falsetto-driven vocals of Silberman, cementing their place as one of indie rock's most emotionally resonant acts.
