Zuzuka Poderosa

Zuzuka Poderosa is an Indo-Brazilian artist creating music of the diaspora. She grew up between Brazil, Cayman Islands and New York City, where she studied vocal jazz improvisation, worked on her music and poetry. Singing in Portuguese, Spanish, and English from Brooklyn to Oslo World, the Kennedy Center, D.C., SXSW, the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival in Miami, Pop Montreal, Distortion in Copenhagen, Berlin, and festivals across Europe and Latin America. Praised by LA Weekly for getting a crowd of over 2,000 on their feet within minutes, she has been named among NPR Best Beats of Summer, KCRW top 10 songs consecutively and spotlighted on NPR’s Alt.Latino. Her music has appeared in Jane the Virgin (Netflix), Elementary (CBS), The Suicide Squad (2021), Saints Row video game, among others. Her track “Moqueca” has surpassed one million streams. She has collaborated with Marcelo D2, Gregor Salto, Anahí, Jubilee, DJ Rekha, and Captain Planet, and has lectured at NYU on contemporary Brazilian music. Rooted in club culture and Baile Funk, she is now expanding her artistry, studying voice and piano to pursue her love for MPB music and beyond .
