A celebration of the life and legacy of the artist, activist, and performer Gil Scott-Heron. Known best for his poetic and prolific words “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”, Scott-Heron’s spoken word performances inspired generations of rappers, poets, and singers. His style and rhythms forever changed hip-hop, earning him the title of Godfather to the genre. Among the performers at this special event is Sista Zock, a spoken word poet and musician with a unique Afro-jazz-hip-hop fusion sound. Her latest album Zock Solid: Where the Stem Meets the Root features a collaboration with The Last Poets and transcends genre boundaries. Additional artists are to be announced.
