Aaron Schultz

Aaron DRM is a DJ, A&R, and label executive with more than 20 years of experience in independent music. As the owner and creative force behind Bastard Jazz Recordings, he has overseen the label’s growth from a one-man operation into one of Brooklyn’s longest-running and most respected boutique imprints, known for its eclectic catalog spanning jazz, soul, electronic, hip-hop, and leftfield sounds. Alongside longtime collaborator Nickodemus, he also serves as managing partner of Wonderwheel Recordings, helping shape the label’s globally minded sound and internationally recognized artist roster. Over the years, Aaron has worked across nearly every aspect of running an independent label, including A&R, artist development, marketing, distribution, synch licensing, publishing, and digital strategy. He has helped discover and develop artists including Chancha Via Circuito, Lord Echo, Potatohead People, Captain Planet, Alsarah & The Nubatones, Tagua Tagua, and many more.
